# Kaynine Lens Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 18, 2026

Kaynine Lens is a Chrome extension that lets you ask AI questions about the webpage you are viewing and save useful page context from that workflow.

## Information handled by the extension

Kaynine Lens may handle the following information when you use its features:

- The active page's title, URL, visible text, selected text, and image URLs.
- Available subtitle content on supported YouTube and Bilibili video pages. Kaynine Lens does not record audio or transcribe audio itself.
- Messages you type and responses returned by your selected AI provider.
- Settings stored in your browser, including provider, model, API key, custom base URL, theme, thinking-mode preference, image-download preference, export destination, Notebook note folder, and file-conflict preference.
- Temporary per-tab page context and conversation state used to keep the side panel associated with the correct browser tab.

Kaynine Lens does not require a Kaynine Lens account and does not use a developer-operated backend to collect extension usage, page content, conversations, or API keys.

## How information is used

Kaynine Lens uses webpage context, available video subtitles, selected text, and chat messages only to provide its user-facing purpose: helping you ask AI questions grounded in the active page and save context from that workflow.

When you send a chat message, Kaynine Lens sends your prompt, relevant page context, and API credential directly to the AI provider you selected in Settings. Supported options are DeepSeek, OpenAI, OpenRouter, and custom HTTPS OpenAI-compatible endpoints. The selected provider processes that data under its own terms and privacy policy.

## Exports and the local Notebook service

When you export to a local file, Markdown or ZIP content is created locally through your browser. If image downloads are enabled, Kaynine Lens requests image URLs from the websites that host them so those images can be included in the ZIP.

When you explicitly choose Notebook as the export destination, Kaynine Lens sends the generated note and, if enabled, downloaded page images to a compatible Notebook service running on your device at `127.0.0.1`. That local service handles the saved content according to its own configuration and privacy terms. Kaynine Lens does not send Notebook exports to a developer-operated Kaynine Lens server.

## Storage and retention

Provider and export settings are stored in Chrome local extension storage. Temporary tab sessions are stored in Chrome session extension storage and are intended to last only for the browser session. Local exports remain wherever you or your local Notebook service save them until you delete them.

You can remove locally stored extension settings by uninstalling Kaynine Lens or clearing the extension's stored data. You can delete exported files through your operating system or the local Notebook application that received them.

## Sharing

Kaynine Lens does not sell user data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.

Information is transferred only when needed for a feature you choose to use:

- To the AI provider you select, when you submit a chat request.
- To the website hosting an image, when image downloads are enabled and you export content that includes page images.
- To a compatible Notebook service on your device, when you explicitly select Notebook export.
- If required to comply with applicable law.

The developer does not allow humans to read your webpage context, subtitles, prompts, API keys, conversations, or exports, except when you explicitly provide specific information for support, when necessary for security, or when required by law.

## Security

Built-in AI provider endpoints use HTTPS, and custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints must use HTTPS. API keys are stored in your Chrome profile and are sent only to the selected provider endpoint when required for a chat request. No method of local storage or network transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Connections to the optional Notebook service use the loopback address on your own device. Kaynine Lens does not expose that local service or its content to the internet.

## Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure

Kaynine Lens's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information obtained through Chrome extension permissions is used only to provide or improve Kaynine Lens's disclosed, user-facing reading, chat, and export features. It is not used for personalized advertising, sold to third parties, or made available for unrelated human review.

## Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the privacy policy URL shown on the Chrome Web Store listing with a revised effective date.
